Our Mission

To educate, empower, and protect through stories and discussions. We educate parents and children on how to keep themselves and their families safe. We will provide the keys to unlock their mental defense and to have a mental preparedness on how to stay safe. We want to keep America safe one story at a time.

Goals

To publish books that have simple and fun lessons that let parents and children imagine examples that would fit into their life. Encourage parents and children to express how they would react in a threatening situation, and discuss the simple things they could do to be safer.

How you can help:

• Be committed to a continued effort in teaching your children about safety.
• Stay up to date on the latest trends appropriate to your child’s age group.
• Keep yourself educated on how to reach your children.
• Speak openly with your children do not wait until something happens to your family or in your community to make safety a priority.
• Incorporate the lessons and stories into your daily lives, practice “what if” scenarios.
• Be repetitive in your message to your children.
  

About Teresa Meares
(Author of the Think Safe Be Safe Kids book series, Motivational Speaker, Law Enforcement Professional, Business women)

Teresa Meares has 23 years of law enforcement experience and is a retired patrol sergeant with the St Johns County Sheriff’s Office. She is married to Gary and together they have 4 children. She has a Master's degree in Public Administration. She is currently the CEO of DGG Taser Inc. where she manages 23 employees, who operate a distribution of law enforcement and personal self-defense products.

During her career at the Sheriff’s Office she had the opportunity to work in several capacities, to include major homicide investigations, undercover narcotics work, and statewide federal investigations involving multi-agency cooperation. Teresa was a member of the agency’s SWAT Team, Field training officer program, DARE Program for the school resource programs and she supervised the Sheriff’s office K-9 Team.

Teresa is a published author of the “Think Safe 2 Be Safe” books, stories focused on teaching kids how to stay safe.

Teresa was named on The Jacksonville Business Journal’s “List” as top Women Owned Businesses, ranking #4 in 2008 and #2 in 2009. Also in 2009, DGG Taser Inc. ranked #17 in the Top 50 Fastest Growing Companies in North East Florida. The same year, Teresa was honored as The Jacksonville Business Journal’s Women of Influence. In 2010, Teresa went on to become the “Entrepreneur of the Year” award recipient at the Women in Business Awards for North East Florida.

She is a 2009/2010 Board member of the Women’s Business Organization. Other memberships are Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce, Executive Women’s Golf Association, Fruit Cove Baptist Church and NAWBO (National Association of Women Business Owners).
